Jeff Montalvo aka Seven Lions plays DJ decks against blue smoke background

Seven Lions delivers unreleased heavy dubstep ID on EDCLV’s Virtual Rave-A-Thon [WATCH]

Seven Lions (real name Jeff Montalvo) is a proverbial god of dance music. The multi-genre mastermind and Ophelia Records head has become adept at weaving a gorgeous, glittering tapestry of sounds that bring together trance, house, and melodic dubstep. Montalvo’s sets are often known as places to both headbang and let out a wide range of emotions, inciting beautiful moments of catharsis and release in his fans. His latest venture, a 45-minute virtual set at EDC Las Vegas‘ Virtual Rave-A-Thon, made waves among the electronic music community and showed that quarantine has only made him stronger.

The stand-out moment of Seven Lions’ Rave-A-Thon set is the opener. The melodic pioneer opens with a high-energy unreleased dubstep ID that is hot and heavy right out the gate, before Montalvo moves straight into his Jason Ross collaboration, “Known You Before.” With a sound that’s reminiscent of Excision and plays into older melodic styles, the ID is a wild and undoubtedly torched track that launches the set right into full gear. His full performance is available to re-watch on Insomniac‘s YouTube channel now, with the new song starting around 2:20 after a brief conversation with Insomniac founder Pasquale Rotella, who hosted the three-day online event.

Seven Lions is no stranger to the live stream, with his Twitch channel raking in tens of thousands of diehard fans every week. During the sessions, Montalvo can be seen delivering sets from his lava lamp filled living room, alongside his wife and girlfriend, Gem & Tauri, having brunch, and getting personal by answering fans’ questions.
