Remix Radar 008: The past month saw high-profile remixes from Zeds Dead & Subtronics, Yellow Claw, Louis The Child & Whethan, Bassnectar, Jon Hopkins, and so many more

The mark of any great dance music remix rests in an artist’s ability to put their own stamp on a favorite tune, all the while leaving the original recognizably in-tact. Whether it’s a producer whose given the enviable task of official remix duties or a newcomer striving to leave their footprint on a great artist’s hallmark track, good remixes are virtually everywhere. Great remixes, however, happen in the magical moment that a remixer finds that sweet spot in the studio. That’s why CE has scoured the interwebs in search of the latest and greatest remixes — all wrapped into one easy-listening playlist. This is the Remix Radar.

The past month has given dance music fans some of the most standout remixes of 2020. In this month’s edition of the Remix Radar, we’ve gathered them all here in one easy-listening playlist.

Snails, Wreckno and Super Future, and WHIPPED CREAM have all released remix packages. In the way of rising acts, Surf Mesa has taken on marshmello and Halsey’s hit, “Be Kind,” Ninajirachi remixed deadmau5’s recently released single, “Pomegranate,” and LICK delivered a beautiful rendition of ARMNHMR’s “Give You My Heart.”

In the way of big-name remixes mixing big-name artists, Yellow Claw has remixed the Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights,” Zeds Dead and Subtronics has reconvened together on a re-imagination of experimental hip-hop duo Atmosphere’s “GodLovesUgly,” Sofi Tukker has touched up Dillon Francis and BabyJake’s “You Do You,” and Jon Hopkins has taken on Flume and Toro y Moi’s “The Difference.”

Louis The Child has been remixed a ton this month, no doubt because their debut album just dropped this week. Party Favor has remixed the Chicago duo and Drew Love’s “Free,” Will Sparks put his fingers on their collaboration with Quinn XCII and Chelsea Cutler, “Little Things, and they teamed up with old friend Whethan on Rich The Kid and Kendrick Lamar’s  “New Freezer.”

As some of our favorites of the month, Bassnectar has re-evisioned Michael Franti and Spearhead’s “Skin On The Drum” as part of his eleventh studio album, Seven Lions took on 3LAU’s “Tokyo,” and his fellow Ophelia mate Trivecta has remixed he and Jason Ross’ ” Known You Before.”

Without further ado, here are our Top 25 remixes over the past month in this edition of CE‘s Remix Radar.
