Kygo reimagines a Tina Turner classic, ‘What’s Love Got to Do With It’ [WATCH]
Kygo is on fire lately with his releases and he seems to have a penchant for digging deep into the vault of 1980s R&B queens. First came his reimagined rendition of Steve Winwood and Whitney Houston’s iconic 1986 hit “Higher Love.” Now the Norwegian producer has taken on Tina Turner‘s Grammy Award-winning 1984 single, “What’s Love Got To Do With It.” Kygo certainly lends the classic a nice dose of his signature tropical style.
“I couldn’t be more excited to collaborate with Tina Turner,” says Kygo of Turner, “who is an icon that I grew up listening to. ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ is one of my all-time favorite songs, so to have a chance to rework it has been a very special moment in my career. I love working around timeless vocals and although it’s challenging to preserve elements of the original track and add my own touch, I’m extremely happy with how it turned out!”
Kygo is fresh off the release of his Golden Hour LP and his fans are still buzzing from the news of a possible collaboration between him and The Weeknd. Yet, that doesn’t stop the tropical house tycoon from harkening back to easier times and happier, uplifting anthems. This one is a timeless feel-good tune that is sun-kissed with summer.
