Idris Elba makes Defected Records returns with Iziba house set [WATCH]

Idris Elba has made his official return to Defected Records. This time around, however, Elba’s return to the UK-based indie record label involves a live set perched atop a high-rise building overlooking Amstel River in Amsterdam. The sundown set was given to celebrate the return of soccer season with a virtual live stream, The Kick-Off, sponsored by Heineken and the UEFA Champions League.

Defected Records was charged with curating the one-day streaming event line-up, which included artists like Elba, Bob Sinclair, Purple Disco Machine, Low Steppa, and Ferreck Dawn, along with secret appearances from soccer stars. Guest DJs streamed live from unique locations either at home, in bars, or from the Heineken Experience in Amsterdam and the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon.

Throughout quarantine, Defected Records has been a leader in the live stream landscape. The operation has boasted a series of weekly radio shows hosted by Sam Divine, held their Defected Virtual Festival events, and curated a three-part live stream series event called We Dance As One. Stream Elba’s full hour-long set from The Kick-Off now.
