NIK P forays into liquid DnB territory on sultry remix of Alina Baraz’s ‘More Than Enough’
CE favorite NIK P continually impresses with every output. A newcomer with masterful production skills, the Dallas-based rising bass artist has delivered single after single in 2020 that continually raises the bar. From his Zapped/Unload EP, an experimental bass jaunt with Half Human, and inclusion on Bassrush’s Prophecy: Vol. 2, is now four-for-four on the year in terms of building a diverse and varying sound. His latest remix of Galamatias collaborator Alina Baraz’s “More Than Enough” takes the Cleveland-born singer/song writer’s original into liquid drum-n-bass territory.
Melodic and cinematic, and incredibly enticing and emotive, NIK P’s remix rinses Baraz’s soft single with plenty of unique sounds to peak the sense. From his use of drippy textures, aqueous synths, molten tones, and mellow production techniques, NIK P takes listeners on a captivating sonic ride that plays out a lot like a sultry scene in a movie. It’s both soft and subdued, and yet active, lively, and energetic all at once. Once again, NIK P proven himself a guru in the studio with another intelligent piece of sound design that is far beyond his years.
It’s not an “official” remix, according to NIK P, but he’d been given support from Alina Baraz’s management to offer up his take on the original. Suffice it to say, the result is something Baraz should be intrigued and excited about.
