Illenium links with Dabin and Lights on special Christmas Day release, ‘Hearts on Fire’
Never one to lack a full slate of talented studio friends, Illenium has given his fans a special Christmas Day gift in the form of “Heart On Fire.” The Denver-based melodic bass mastermind, known to his beloved fanbase as Nick Miller, has linked with former tour buddy and bandmate Dabin on the track. The two had been posting online for some time about their time creating together, so to say the collaboration was highly-anticipated would be a bit of an understatement. However, for the two “sad boy” producers to secure powerhouse EDM songstress and frequent deadmau5 collaborator Lights was the cherry on top on the proverbial cake.
A tasty holiday treat, indeed. “Hearts On Fire” dons every bit of Illenium’s signature stamp, Dabin’s skillful guitar chords, and Lights’ always-angelic vocals. With crooning lyrics, and hopeful the pop-tinged record is dedicated to the bleeding hearts of the world. In other words, the track is tailor-made for Illenium’s fanbase. Speaking to the long-overdue collaborative ballad, Dabin touches on how naturally the track came together with his longtime friend.
“This collab with Nick (Illenium) has been a long time coming! We’ve been friends and toured together for years but never found the right time to create something together. ‘Hearts On Fire’ came together organically as I would’ve expected and I’m really happy with how it turned out. Hope you like it!”– Dabin Lee
Out now on Miller’s new label, 12Tone Music, “Hearts on Fire” follows two recent Illenium releases, “Nightlight” with Annika Wells and “Paper Thin” with Tom DeLonge of Angels & Airwaves. The latter track has also received several remixes under the same label banner. Taken together, the three releases are being taken as the build-up for Illenium’s fourth studio full-length album.
