EDM Dubstep producer Viskus stands on an empty road

Introducing Viskus: Michigan-bred, Austin-based rising dubstep artist impresses on Akashik Collective track, ‘Confirmed Ignition’

Here at Conscious Electronic, we love all things bass — breakbeat, downtempo, left-field, experimental, dubstep in all its forms, you name it. As the underground bass movement has begun its full ascendancy in the US, we’ve been keeping a finger on the pulse of up-and-coming bass artists the country over. As such, CE’Rising Bass Spotlight seeks to shine a light onto the rising producers who’re honing their craft, galvanizing their movements, and attuning eyes, ears, heads, and bodies into all things low end.

Nick Charles is starting to turn heads in the bass music world. Known more commonly as Viskus, Charles is an underground dubstep artist from Detroit, Michigan, who is now growing his music project in Texas. Always finding new and unique ways to build his community, Viskus continues to shape his sound while getting his music placed on well-known labels such as Ganja White Night‘s SubCarbon, MeSo‘s Spicybois, GRVDNCR, and Mersiv‘s MorFlo Records. He has collaborated with like-minded underground bass artists from Dancemyth and fendz to CE favorites like Super Future and Ravenscoon. As a growing artist, he performs to the bass community while creating music that allows his listeners to step inside his mind and live through his experiences.

Viskus now unveils his newest cut, “Confirmed Ignition,” as part of Akashik Collective’s new 12-track compilation album, Full Moon Vol. 2. The nearly three-and-a-half-minute track’s glitchy, glass breaking sonics and liquidy tones add the perfect energy to the experimentally-focused Akashik project. On “Confirmed Ignition,” Viskus guides his listeners through a psychedelic trip while fading in and out of intense melodies, gritty basslines, and complex beat patterns.

Here at CE, we’ve long been fans of Viskus’ slippery sound design and brooding bass signatures, which is why we’re proud to be featuring the newcomer as a Rising Bass Spotlight artist. Nestled among artists like Rest In Pierce, NotLö, Goopsteppa, Digital Ethos, Benji Robot, and countless others, Charles is certainly in good company.
