REZZ has unveiled her remix of “Violence”, a 2019 clubhouse beat by Grimes and the late techno producer i_o, giving her signature hard-hitting bass spin on the otherwise airy and uplifting track. The highly-anticipated collaboration between the two Canadian starlets was teased online early 2020 and finally dropped on the mark of the new year as part of Grimes’ repository of reworks on her latest album, dubbed Miss Anthropocene (Rave Edition), out now on her record label 4AD Records. Other producers recruited for the eclectic singer’s remix album included Richie Hawtin, Tale of Us, ANNA, and more.
The ties between REZZ and i_o go back to their mutual connection with the legendary deadmau5-headed imprint mau5trap. Naturally, the remix does justice to the late talent’s track, giving it that extra REZZ bass boost and gritty drop while allowing space for i_o’s atmospheric soundscape and Grimes’ ethereal vocals to breathe. REZZ’s remix of “Violence” follows the release of her most recent original banger “Orbit,” as well as the surprise remix of Porter Robinson‘s “shehealseverything” dropped via her alternative SoundCloud account over the summer.
