REJACK serves up the grit on LoFreq’ incoming label compilation with ‘Backstreet Rhythm’ [PREMIERE]
Deep in the lab, Jeff Gagnon has been working hard in his studio in the City of Angels. He’s better known under his bass music alias, Rejack, and he’s got an EP on the horizon very soon. To hold bass music fans over until then, Rejack now comes to LoFreq Records to release “Backstreet Rhythm,” which CE is thrilled to premiere today, January 18. The track lands as part of LoFreq’s incoming second installment of the label compilation series, entitled Cypher.
“Backstreet Rhythm” plays out exactly as its title suggests. Complete with dynamic tempos, gnarly synth scratches, ominous tones, and rhythms you’d expect to hear coming out of a gritty underground club in a back alley somewhere in Los Angeles, this quick number is a straight shooter in terms of its production qualities. Heavy and distorted, with supremely low-end frequencies, “Backstreet Rhythm” marks Rejack’s LoFreq debut. On making the track, Gagnon told CE the following:
“When starting new projects I always try to keep an open mind and let the track develop naturally. As I continued to work on Backstreet Rhythm it started to transform into a low end based groove that swings and cruises along from bar to bar. I had a great time writing this tune and learned so many new production techniques while working on it. I hope everyone enjoys it!”

“Backstreet Rhythm” is the next in a string of releases leading up to LoFreq’s Cypher Volume 2, out at the end of this month. The compilation also features Ravenscoon, AHEE, label owner Jalaya, Smokestax, and many more.
