The experimental bass scene is on the rise, but few have cut through the noise like New Orleans-based duo, sfam, comprised of Jacob Hoerner and Michael Pearson. They’ve positioned themselves as one of the most impressive and innovative new acts in bass music and, today, they’ve released their Forefront EP on the esteemed imprint, Wakaan Records.
Taking inspiration from their love for heavy bass and minimal trap beats, sfam has once again formulated a dark, distinct sound of unique, amorphous, original beats that cut deep. From the opening title track, “Forefront,” all the way up to the porous closing number in “Simple,” sfam proves they are anything but. Always bent towards exploration and experimentation, sfam said the following on the all-original solo project in a press release.
“We’ve always done our best to push boundaries in all of our tunes but we really tried to go for

something even more different with these. we’re really excited how they came out.”
sfam proves that they are here to stay as their sound continues to evolve with every release. Locked and loaded with an arsenal of unreleased music for the upcoming year, 2021 is set to be a true breakout year for the New Orleans duo.
