Anyone who is familiar with Andy Underwood’s BroMosapien project knows his ever-evolving style includes all the best in underground bass—from halftime to dubstep, DnB to neuro, and everything hybrid in between. Yet, his incoming five-track Zooted EP—set for release tomorrow, June 17—is perhaps the Charlotte-based producer’s most cohesive piece of work to date.
The production work on the EP is so firmly rooted in bass music’s the past and present that we are ecstatic to be premiering “Shakedown” a day ahead of the full EP release. Speaking the the stylistic influeners of “Shakedown” and the larger project, Underwood told us:
“This tune, & the whole EP for that matter, follows a specific theme of blending old school sound dubstep with new modern age approaches to neuro bass music. This whole EP was intended for large scale sound systems for a high energy environment!”

Built for your speakers indeed, because the track will strip you down with its huge sound, immersive frequencies, perfect builds, ragga-adjacent vocal samples, and more. For all it’s head shaking, fist thumping, heart pounding qualities, “Shakedown” is sound system culture in a song.
Ever since his 2020 Fallen Kingdom EP, and then later with Beyond Zones, we’ve had our eyes and ears closely peeled on BroMosapien. The North Carolinian has certainly been making waves in the bass music scene in the time after the lockdown as well. With each release stepping the game up one after another, Underwood has quickly become a force to be reckoned with. Be sure to catch BroMosapien at Yonderville at the end of the month, and Fire Lights Festival in August.
Stream “Shakedown” below and stayed tuned tomorrow for BroMosapien’s full EP release!
