Rising Bass Spotlight: Sepiida bridges inner and outer worlds on healing, meditative journey, ‘Blossom’ [Premiere]
Here at Conscious Electronic, we love all things bass — breakbeat, downtempo, left-field, experimental, dubstep in all its forms, you name it. As the underground bass movement has begun its full ascendancy in the US, we’ve been keeping a finger on the pulse of up-and-coming bass artists the country over. As such, CE’s Rising Bass Spotlight seeks to shine a light onto the rising producers who’re honing their craft, galvanizing their movements, and attuning eyes, ears, heads, and bodies into all things low end.
Since his debut track in “Alternate Reality” around a year ago, Sepiida has been on the radar of many within the underground bass scene. The West Coast bass music purveyer, who also runs around town under his given name of Calen Fields, has been steadily releasing music under his Sepiida moniker in very careful and intentional ways. His most recent Soundcloud exclusive mix, “A Journey Through Time,” is a must for any bass music aficionado with its undulating basslines and trippy, Tipper-esque trip-hop elements. For anyone with an eye on rising bass talent, Sepiida is one who should be on your radar— which is why we are stoked to be premiering his latest title as our next Rising Bass Spotlight artist.
Taking a turn towards the healing, meditative ambient sonic space, Sepiida now releases a journey-like tune, titled “Blossom.” The nearly six-minute tune is relaxing, reflexive, and introspective with its shamanic chanting, undulating bass lines, and gorgeous top-line arps.
Compound on that Sepiida’s calming Eastern tones, soft acoustic drums, and natural field-recorded samples of chirping birds and what you’ve got is a portal into another world.
“Storytelling music that touches the soul,” says Fields on his musical style, “and transports the listener to a world of mystery, wonder, and pure energy without the use of a single word is what I do.“
This aesthetic is exactly what Sepiida is becoming known for as his music attempts to bridge the gap between inner and outer space. It’s this delicate balance between the inner psyche and the natural world of the outer that listeners will truly begin to “Blossom” in mind, body, and spirit; as the track’s title so suggests.

Formerly known as Shiver Me Timbers, Sepiida shares otherworldly stories of time, space, science, and spirit. It’s a formula that already earned him releases with The Gradient Perspective and What? Collective, as well as what makes us so excited to include this promising young artist in our collection of Rising Bass talent. Motivated by a goal of teaching and healing, he hopes to inspire humankind to turn our gaze inward so that we may all answer the deepest questions we have been challenged with about life and the true nature of our Universe.
Currently residing in California, but claiming to be from all over the world, Calen Fields is truly a child of earth. He’s touched down in the jungles of Costa Rica, the sandy beaches of the Bahamas, the cliffs of San Diego, and his music will certainly transport anyone to those exotic locales.
