WAKAAN Music Festival set to be a true family reunion with sweltering 2020 line-up

WAKAAN Music Festival set to be a true family reunion with sweltering 2022 line-up

Over the years, WAKAAN has been steadily situating itself as the premiere label for weird, wonky bass music. As the brand has ballooned to include an offshoot label in SSKWAN and an annual music festival, Liquid Stranger‘s brainchild has become a true force in the dance music world. To much viral chatter this week, Martin Stääf and company have just released the 2022 line-up for their flagship event, WAKAAN Music Festival. To say they’ve outdone even themselves might just be the biggest understatement of the year.

Expertly-curated doesn’t even begin to explain Wakaan Festival’s 2022 billing. Slated for its return after two years, this year’s edition sees top bass music purveyors strewn across the underground bass spectrum—from Rusko, Mr. Carmack, and BUKU to CloZeeOf The TreesOPIUO, and Tripp St. to TRUTH, Mersiv, Ternion Sound, Supertask, Yheti, and many more. The festival is even branching out into differing genre territory with Sound Tribe Sector 9 and Emancipator, which should bring in a wider draw. Plenty of label favorites are set to join, including WAKAAN’s deep roster with LUZCID, Sully, Champagne Drip, Space Wizard, TVBOO, Tsuruda, EAZYBAKED, and more; along with WAKAAN/SSKWAN newcomers MIZE, Super Future, Ravenscoon, AHEE, Sharlitz Web, and Canabliss, to name a few.

Females have a strong presence on the 2022 billing with A Hundred Drums, NotLö, Veil, Zingara, Khiva, Redrum, and many more bringing their energy to the grounds. Even Barclay Crenshaw will be making a showing with his unique bass flair that is sure to impress. Not to mention, LSDREAM will be busy with a solo set, a b2b set with Liquid Stranger during the pre-party, and an ambient meditation set under his LIGHTCODE moniker. Of course, Liquid Stranger will deliver two primetime sets to close each night.

Still need convincing? Take a look at the stage takeovers from some of our favorite labels and collectives, including Deep Dark & Dangerous, GRL GANG, MorFlo Records, and Street Ritual, along with a pre-party with NOTIXX, Minnesota, Shlump, Tape B, and more. If that weren’t enough, fans can be sure that plenty of surprises are sure to abound over the weekend. In any case, Wakaan Festival is shaping up to be a real family reunion this year on its magical scenic venue situated in the Ozarks of Arkansas.

Wakaan Festival will take place this September 28 through October 1 at its usual Mulberry Mountain stomping grounds. For general information and FAQs, head here. Buy tickets using this link.
