Zeds Dead and Jauz team up on melancholic collaboration, ‘S.O.S’
The third time is the charm for Toronto’s Zeds Dead and EDM juggernaut Jauz. The juggernaut duo will team up once again with the Bite This label owner to release a new collaboration, “S.O.S,” featuring Australian singer/songwriter Nicole Millar on vocals.
“S.O.S” signals another gem perfectly highlighting each of the producers’ respective sound stamps. A woozy, entrancing, and melancholic vocal hangs over a throwback melodic dubstep instrumental that combines Jauz’s distinct flair for dangerous waters bass lines with Zed Dead’s soulful, hummable melodies. Millar’s angelic vocals float gracefully over a heavily reverbed bassline as the song progresses through electric guitar riffs, excellently executed key changes, and tension-building piano chords. The only weakness of the song is the we wish it were longer!
The track marks the third collaboration from Zeds Dead and Jauz, following 2017’s drum-n-bass hit, “Lights Go Down,” and 2019’s “Shake.” To close out 2022, Zeds Dead released their highly anticipated collaboration with GRiZ, “Ecstasy Of Soul.” Jauz has been relatively quiet since releasing his September 2022 EP, Block Party.
