Gramatik and Kotek team up on new Lowtemp collaboration, ‘Vitalik Buterin’

Currently in the midst of wrapping his forthcoming SB5 project, Gramatik has taken some time away to release of few statement-making singles. The first of which was a touching Aretha Franklin tribute in which the Lowtemp Records labelhead paid homage to the “Queen of Soul” following her death. Next comes a funky, glitch-inspired number with the help of fellow Lowtemp signee and recent REZZ collaborator, Kotek.

Named after the Russian blockchain titan of the same name, the collaborative effort gleans towards Gramatik’s crisp and digestible funk-fueled sound, but also gives listeners a heaping serving of Kotek’s decisively darker, industrial-tinged sound — a sound which no doubt drew the likes of REZZ to his style.

The single was named after the Russian blockchain titan of the same name, which make sense for someone like Gramatik insofar as he is dance music’s first artist to integrate blockchain currency into his musical project. In other words, fans can own digital stake in the Gramatik project. Gramatik provided some insight into the collaboration’s inspiration and direction via his SoundCloud.

“Vitalik Buterin is a tribute to the founder of Ethereum and basically the sequel to Satoshi Nakamoto, except this time around, Kotek and I decided to make it an instrumental journey. The song changes five times and keeps evolving beginning to end which is meant to symbolize the different stages of development and evolution of Ethereum and its ecosystem. We had so much fun making this tune and we sincerely hope that Vitalik likes it.”
