REZZ taps metal band Underoath for ‘Falling’
REZZ‘s next highly-anticipated EP, Beyond the Senses, in right on schedule for its late July release. She’s already uncovered the project’s first track in “Dark Age” and has announced an accompanying tour set for this summer, amid her many scheduled festival appearances.
Now the so-called Space Mom, as she’s referred to by her adoring cult fans, has shared the EP’s second single. Titled “Falling,” the track is a collaboration with hardcore act Underoath. REZZ initially debuted the track at EDC Las Vegas last month, inviting Underoath’s lead singer, Spencer Chamberlain, on stage to deliver the song’s lyrics.
REZZ takes a noticeable departure from her signature style on “Falling.” Typically known for dark, crooning basslines and hypnotic chords, there’s certainly none of that here. Laced with emo lyrics, haunting harmony, and screaming care of Underoath, it’s a track that decidedly spotlights the vocalist. Although REZZ’s influence is certainly apparent in the song’s heavily glitched out drops.
It’s a calculated new direction considering REZZ has been playing out metal tunes in her tracks, most notably Rage Against The Machine’s “Killing In The Name Of.”
