Duck Sauce releases first single in six years, ‘Smiley Face’
The duo haven’t released new music since their Quack LP back in April 2014.
After a near six-year-long hiatus, Duck Sauce are officially back in conversation with their newest single, “Smiley Face.” As the super duo side project of A-trak and Armand van Helden, the pair made headlines with a Coachella 2020 billing that completely blindsided their respective fanbases—and all of EDM, for that matter. Then, amidst rumors of a plotted return, the nu-disco duo was announced for Tomorrowland and dance music fans began preparing for an all-out comeback.
“Smiley Face” lands as a track that is heavily inspired by an older disco-informed style of house music that Duck Sauce’s signature sound rests upon. Catchy, upbeat, funky, and positive are few ways to describe the feel-good record with groove appeal. The house music tastemakers also used a sample from Two Tons O’ Fun’s 1980 song “Make Someone Feel Happy Today” in the single, layered over infectious lyrics and soulful melodies
The year is shaping up to be a stellar return for Duck Sauce with even more releases to come as festival season officially kicks off in spring. Stay tuned for more.
