Cassian enlists Durante for ‘Open Up’ remix via Rose Avenue

Grammy-nominated producer, and master sound engineer Cassian has released a rework of his hit single, “Open Up,” from Italian DJ and producer, Durante. Out on RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Rose Avenue imprint, the original track was released earlier this summer on Cassian’s highly anticipated debut album, Laps. Drawing on his ardor for versatility, Durante retools the emotive single with raw rhythms and melodic chords, garnishing the synth-driven single with addictive percussive textures.

“Cass and I have always had a similar taste in music,” said Durante on meeting Cassian. “I remember downloading tracks of his to DJ when I first moved to LA 6 years ago. I got to meet him when I opened for him at Sound a few years ago, and last year we got to do a co-headlining show there together.”

The duo have shared a close friendship spanning across the studio and the stage. Celebrating the Laps release, Durante took to the virtual stage on Cassian’s album launch live stream, joining label bosses RÜFÜS DU SOL for back-to-back sets unveiling the project. The duo also previously collaborated on their remix of RÜFÜS’ “Eyes” which appeared on the band’s widely-praised SOLACE REMIXED album last year.

This latest remix showcases the synergistic musical energy between both producers, as Durante elaborates on Cassian’s signature ethereal sound creating a club-ready record with technical precision. “Really came full circle when he asked me to do a remix of one of the songs on his album. Cassian always sets the bar extremely high with his production, and the stems were top notch. Once I had the drums the rest of the remix pretty much wrote itself,” continues Durante.
