Before the pandemic hit, forcing the live music industry to a complete halt, over 450,000 music fans of multiple genres flocked down to Texas for the 2019 edition of Austin City Limits (ACL). Known for being the “live music capital of the world,” lockdown brought this humble music-loving “small town” many economic perils when they could no longer rely on their three largest markets: travel, tourism, and music.
With so many line-ups being delivered this month, that all shifts with the changing tides of steady vaccination rates and the dream of living in a post-COVID world. Now the Live Nation and C3 Presents partnered event has revealed another expansive ACL line-up that signals a semblance of a return to normalcy.
“Music is coming back strong to the Live Music Capital of the World. The return of Austin City Limits as an in-person festival celebrates that our efforts as a community to become vaccinated are working. Health and safety remain our top priority, and we will work closely with the organizers and Austin Public Health to ensure ACL Fest is in line with our health standards. We must continue to get everyone vaccinated and keep up our success.”– Steve Adler, Austin Mayor
Topping the ACL 2021 line-up are pop-country star George Strait, mesmerizing newcomer Billie Eilish, the legendary white witch Stevie Nicks, wrecking ball Miley Cyrus, Aussie electronic trio RÜFÜS DU SOL, rapper DaBaby, and Texas’ very own Erykah Badu.
More exciting editions include Modest Mouse, Marc Rebillet, Future Islands, Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, Machine Gun Kelly, St. Vincent (W1), and many more. In the electronic realm, there’s Alison Wonderland, Madeon (W2), Lane 8, Chris Lake, and more to look out for.
Austin City Limits is set to return to Zilker Park for two weekends, October 1-3 and October 8-10. Tickets are available now on the ACL website and are expected to go fast.
