One hotly rising artist that the bass music community just can’t get enough is Alex Mantekas of NotLö. With three EP releases on the year already—Speakeasy on Deep Dark & Dangerous, Exoplanet on Street Ritual with label head VEIL, and Hallucination Effect via Wakaan, most recently. Now stepping out for a bit on her own, the Denver-based artist now self-releases a corky one-off single in “Catnip.” The track is meant to set the stage for NotLö’s upcoming EP, scheduled for release some time next year. If nothing else, this give fans much to look forward to from the always-grinding rising talent.
Clocking in at just over three minutes in length, “Catnip” contains all the mind-bending, bass forward, low-end madness fans have come to love of Mantekas. Armed with slippery shoe sneaker sampling, off-kilter tempo design, gritty saw-synths, and those unmistakable NotLö wubby low-ends, “Catnip” is a perfect example of why Mantekas is leading the underground bass music scene with forward-thinking productions.
Poised to end the year on countless “Ones to Watch” lists for 2022, NotLö has nowhere else to go but up. Stream “Catnip” now.
