It’s always a nice surprise when multi-instrumentalist and producer GRiZ releases a new Bangers.Zip drip. Coming in as the EP series’ seventh installment, GRiZ has unleashed his Bangers[7].Zip EP.

Returning after a two-year hiatus, Bangers[7].Zip lives up to the hype set by its predecessors. A dizzying array of hard-hitting bass and anthemic dubstep, the 3-track EP features new tracks “Laser Fire” and “MEGAZORD,” the latter of which features collaborators ProbCause and Chrishira Perrier who have become full-time touring members of the GRiZ live show.

A champion of wobbles and wubs, GRiZ has a way of creating avant-garde sounds with a refreshing perspective, combining elements of dubstep, bass, hip-hop, and funk. “Laser Fire” blasts off with zig-zagging basslines and deafening distortion while “MEGAZORD” erupts with hypnotic energy provided by ProbCause and Chishira Perrier’s dominating vocals. 

GRiZ’s Bangers.Zip EP series has become a fan favorite since its inception in 2019, with past EPs featuring hit collaborations like “Griztronics” with Subtronics and “No Doubt” with Jauz. A dynamic display of GRiZ’s trippy bass and funk-driven dubstep, the EP series highlights GRiZ’s ability to live comfortably amongst a variety of genres, while continuously impressing his dedicated fanbase. 

Over the course of seven albums, countless collaborations, and sold-out events, GRiZ continues to be one of electronic music’s most celebrated and inspiring artists. 2022 has seen the release of GRiZ’s celebrated Chasing The Golden Hour 4 LP and imaginative collaborations with LSDREAM (“Funkonaut”), Big Gigantic (“Open Your Mind”), CloZee (“Color Of Your Soul”), and TVBOO (“Bass Music”).
