HARD Summer pushed to 2021 amid ongoing coronavirus pandemic
At the current time, there is anything but certainty in the air as to when large-scale gatherings and music festivals will be able to return. When COVID-19 initially made its way into the US, the masses underestimated the extremity of how quickly a pandemic can spread. When May festivals began dropping, followed by June and now July events, it seems August festival organizers gunning for the “show to go on” are beginning to slowly face the music. HARD Summer Music Festival, one of Los Angeles’ premiere late-summer outdoor massives, is part of that bunch.
The recently-acquired Insomniac event has now officially announced that this year’s gathering will no longer happen August 1-2 at the Fontana Speedway. Insomniac shared a statement with fans about the so-called “postponement” of the festival
“To all our fans – Thank you for your support during these past few months,” HARD Summer officials said in a public statement. “Though the world is moving in a more positive direction we want to have HARD Summer as soon as it’s safe to do so and right now it’s too soon for us to be able to gather at HARD Summer this year.”
Though it’s a hard pill to swallow for many Southern Californian ravers, Insomniac is attempting to sweeten the deal by offering free ticket upgrades HARD Summer 2021. Ticketholders with GA passes will be upgraded to VIP, while those with VIP tickets already purchases will be given an additional VIP pass. Refund requests will also be accepted, but on a first-come, needs-based basis.
