GRiZ and ProbCause reassemble on jammy new joint effort, ‘Solo’

When it comes to great collaborators, GRiZ and ProbCause comes to mind for many electronic music fans. The Detroit native and Chicago-based hip-hop artist have joined forces on GRiZ family anthems from “My Friends And I,” to a follow-up of that same track with Snoop Dogg, to the light-hearted stoner anthem, “Smoke That,” and “MPAI Pt 3” more recently on Bangers5[Zip]. Not to mention, ProbCause has remixed a track of GRiZ’s just as GRiZ has produced for ProbCause. Now the longtime collaborators have shown there’s just never enough with another surprise joint called “Solo.”

The latest track comes not just as a gift from GRiZ on his 30th birthday, but as a call-to-action about the Black Lives Matter protests, according to a tweet that Grant posted on his Twitter (see below). The fun, light-hearted single is built for the sunny summer season with ProbCauses’s chill verses, which GRiZ builds a fresh new sound around. Rife with smooth, subdued percussion, groovy guitar riffs, and catchy basslines, all over unmistakable reggae elements, the track boasts a sound not heard from GRiZ’s sizeable catalog. One more surprise worth noting: “Solo” arrives as the first single off GRiZ’s forthcoming project, Chasing The Golden Hour Pt. 3.
