ZHU enlists 24kGoldn on heavy hip-hop burner, ‘I Admit It’
With touring at a complete standstill, ZHU refuses to slow his roll, using the downtime that quarantine has afforded as an opportunity to explore pursuits like exotic live set locales, genre-bending collaborations, and now, fashion. The Grammy-winning producer has taken a hint from the hip-hop world and launched his own clothing line. So it’s no coincidence that the launch came along with the couture-inspired music video for his latest single, “I Admit It.” Accompanying the announcement will be a fan exclusive fashion show in DTLA on November 13, along with a set from ZHU’s techno alter-ego, Blacklizt (sign up for a chance to attend here).
The production of “I Admit It” is simultaneously sparse and heavy for a much-welcomed bassy banger from ZHU. Assisting on the track is Gen-Z sensation 24kGoldn of Tik Tok fame. While his lyrics sound eerily like a word association test of a limelight-crazed groupie, the Platinum-certified rapper adds that infectious hip-hop energy to the track that earned him chart-topping success with his hit “Mood.” “I Admit It” follows ZHU’s first solo single in years, “Risky Business“, which began an instant fan-favorite.
