Avicii’s memorial service draws thousands to Sweden
Seven months after Avicii‘s untimely death, fans were invited to join his family to pay tribute to the legendary producer at his memorial service in Stockholm.
The late DJ, born Tim Bergling, died by suicide at the age of 28. On Friday, November 16, over 2,000 fans gathered at Bergling’s father’s family church, Hedvig Eleonora, to pay their respects. Fans were reportedly gathered outside the venue as well, with an overflow that lined the streets.
His father, Klas Bergling, eulogized his son at the ceremony. To close out the service, choral versions were performed of two of Avicii’s most popular hits, “Wake Me Up” and “Without You.”
Avicii was previously honored with two post-humous awards at the MTV VMAs in New York and the MTV European Music Awards.
