The Glitch Mob are inching closer to the release of their tenth anniversary deluxe reissue of their debut studio album, Drink The Sea, and the LA-based trio have shared another rare remix from their deep vault. The group has already released a remastered remix of Nalepa’s “Monday” to announce the forthcoming commemorative edition, in addition to hosting a Drink The Sea listening party for fans back in March. Now ooah, edIT, and Boreta have unleashed their updated take on STS9‘s “Beyond Right Now.” Originally produced over ten years ago, The Glitch Mob remix has now officially landed for the first time ever.
The remix does an excellent job of leaving all the best parts of STS9’s production marks in tact, like the group’s characteristic chiming synths, guitar shreds, psychedelic chords, and spacey tones. All the while, The Glitch Mob effortlessly inserts their signature glitched-out sound stamp onto the original, taking “Beyond Right Now” well into their sonic domain of LA beat-driven bass music. The hallmark of any great remix rests in one’s ability to put their own stamp on a favorite tune while paying homage to the original’s true sound design. In this sense, The Glitch Mob knocks this one not just out of the park, but well past the stratosphere and straight up into the cosmos.
Drink The Sea (10 Year Anniversary Edition) will arrive December 4, 2020. Pre-save or pre-order your copy now.
